Shambhala is a family-owned and operated festival, supported by a core staff of friends who love what they do; produce a world-class electronic music festival for their 10,000 friends. This years 16th Annual Shambhala Music Festival takes place on August 7th-12th.
The Shambhala Music Festival began in the summer of 1998 when approximately 500 people gathered at the Salmo River Ranch. Over the years, the festival grew organically by word of mouth -- friends bringing friends to create a community built upon Shambhalove. In 2010, for the first time, they reached the 10,000 guest capacity.

On Friday March 4th, 2011, in London, England, Shambhala was named "Best Large Festival" at the 10th Annual Breakspoll International Breakbeat Awards (www.breakspoll.com). Shambhala was one of the smaller events in the Best Large Event category, up against festivals like Burning Man in the US (50,000+ attendees) and the UK's infamous Glastonbury (150,000+ attendees)

Executive Producer Corrine Zawaduk and Cultural Director Ricardo Hubbs take us on a tour of the Shambhala Music Festival Studios located on Lakeside Drive in Nelson. With a full time staff of 20 creative individuals and 2,000 volunteers, hired hands, contractors etc you'll be amazed at how much work goes on behind the scenes to make Shambhala the resounding success that it is today.
