Bass Coast - Long Walk Short Dock - I've Been So Burned Out
- A Long, Thought Lost, Summer Vacation...
I was invited out to Bass Coast for the first time in 2011. Where I met Longwalkshortdock only momentarily. The night he was performing I was unfortunately never awoken to catch his late night / early morning show. I was the driver of our trip into Bass Coast and was to exhausted for my host to wake my dead tired body. This was the very first time I have ever had the chance to experience such a outing because it was my very first summer off from covering weddings for15 years in the destination event industry. In this video I captured less than 4000 exposures with a old 70-200 mm lens that was attached to a 1D mark III Canon camera that I retired due to it's faulty autofocus system that Canon was not finished perfecting before they released this model that caused them a lot of grief. I worked to utilized the autofocus nightmare of the machine to create the in focus and out of focus transitions of this video. I then edited all the frames one at a time in Lightroom and mixed to music in Final Cut Pro. With my new 27" iMac. The actual edit took me 3 consecutive 12 hour days and it was so much fun. I never heard this track until many months later and the footage actually sat for a year until Long Walk had the time to return a email I had sent - it may of been a year or so- the chap is super busy and I was surprised he had return it all do this his large fan base. Today I work with multiple cameras to increase the frame rate of my videos as most of this video was mixed at 8 frames per second and most stop motion projects are done at 24 frames per second. The entire project was shot completely hand held and there was no image stabilization on this 15 year old lens. -I take very good care of my equipment.
